      or over three decades, award-winning illustrator Gary Hovland has been creating beautiful, hand-drawn maps for businesses and publications world-wide. He is a professional at working with his clients to solve their unique visual challenges, and to create clear, dynamic maps - always with wit, humor and style. Gary’s work has appeared in The New York Times, The Wall Street Journal, Condé Nast Traveler, Männer Vogue, Vanity Fair, The New Yorker, The Washington Post, The Boston Globe and hundreds of other national and international publications. He has also worked with many local, state and national organizations to create stunning, fun maps to promote travel and commerce for businesses and communities.

 

In addition to making illustrated maps, Gary has created thousands of editorial illustrations for magazines and newspapers, as well as illustrated several children’s books and book covers. More of his work can be seen at his website: GaryHovland.com.

 

Gary is a graduate of Art Center College of Design, in Pasadena, California, where he later returned as an instructor in “humorous illustration”.
